Turkish Air Force Dazzles Over Pyramids at Egypt Airshow

The Turkish Air Force's "Turkish Stars" aerobatic team captivated audiences at the International Airshow in El Alamein, Egypt, performing a dramatic aerial display over the iconic pyramids. The team executed synchronized maneuvers, leaving trails of smoke forming the Turkish national symbol of a crescent and star. This event, held from September 8-10, 2026, is the second edition of an exhibition aimed at becoming a central hub for aviation, space, and defense industries in the Middle East and Africa.

Turkey's participation extended beyond the aerial performance, with its defense industry showcasing major companies like Turkish Aerospace Industries, Aselsan, and MKE. This presence highlights Ankara's ambition to display not only its air force's capabilities but also the rapid advancement of its domestic defense and aviation sector. The "Turkish Stars," established in the early 1990s, are known for using modified NF-5A and NF-5B supersonic jet fighters for their displays, demanding exceptional precision and coordination.

The airshow featured over 100 aircraft and defense industry representatives from numerous countries, including Egypt, Russia, India, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Greece, South Korea, and the United States. The U.S. Air Force and India's "Sarang" helicopter aerobatic team were also present. The event included more than 50 aerial performances, underscoring its significance as a major international gathering.

For Israel, the proximity of the event, just a few hundred kilometers from its border, makes the Turkish display particularly noteworthy. It signifies Ankara's growing influence in the regional military and aviation landscape, a development Israel is closely monitoring.
