Turkish Air Force Dazzles Over Pyramids at Egypt Airshow

The Turkish Air Force's "Turkish Stars" aerobatic team captivated audiences with a stunning aerial display over the Egyptian pyramids as part of the El Alamein International Airshow. The team performed intricate maneuvers, leaving trails of smoke that formed Turkey's national symbol, the crescent and star. This event, held from September 8-10, 2026, is the second edition of an exhibition aimed at becoming a central platform for aerospace and defense industries in the Middle East and Africa.

Turkey's participation extended beyond the aerial performance. The Turkish defense industry, including major companies like Turkish Aerospace Industries, Aselsan, and MKE, showcased their capabilities. This presence highlights Ankara's ambition to demonstrate not only its air force's prowess but also the rapid advancement of its domestic defense and aviation sectors.

The "Turkish Stars" utilize specially adapted supersonic NF-5A and NF-5B jet aircraft, distinguishing them from teams using only light training planes. Their complex, high-speed, close-formation flying demands exceptional precision, coordination, and discipline, underscoring the advanced capabilities of the Turkish Air Force.

The airshow itself is a significant international gathering, featuring over 100 aircraft and numerous aerial performances. Participants include Egypt, Turkey, Russia, India, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Greece, South Korea, and the United States, alongside defense industries from dozens of other countries. The US Air Force and India's "Sarang" helicopter aerobatic team are also participating.

For Israel, this event holds regional significance due to its proximity to the Pyramids. Turkey's prominent role at the airshow underscores its growing military and aviation presence in the Middle East, a development Israel is closely monitoring.
