Israel has completed the first installation of removable safety barriers on Highway 1 to create emergency escape lanes and improve access for rescue forces during fires, security incidents and serious accidents. The project was developed by Netivei Israel, the Israel Police and Fire and Rescue Israel after last year’s major Jerusalem-area fires stranded thousands of drivers. It is expected to expand to additional strategic road locations across the country.
