Senior Likud Members Resist Commitment Amid Netanyahu's Push to Return to Channel 12 Interviews

A significant number of senior Likud ministers and Knesset members are refusing to confirm whether they will uphold their boycott of Channel 12, despite the channel not apologizing for its controversial coverage of the "Force 100" soldiers. This boycott began after Channel 12 aired a manipulated video that harmed the reputation of these soldiers, leading to the military prosecutor dropping the case against those involved.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly considering lifting the boycott and instructing Likud officials to resume interviews on Channel 12 ahead of the upcoming election campaign. However, many senior Likud figures remain hesitant or silent when asked if they will break their commitment to avoid the channel. Among those who have not responded to official inquiries are ministers Gila Gamliel, Eli Cohen, Dudi Amsalem, Miri Regev, and Gideon Sa'ar, as well as Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.

Some Likud members, including Justice Minister Yariv Levin and Economy Minister Nir Barkat, have firmly stated they will not return to Channel 12 interviews. MK Tali Gottlieb also emphasized her refusal to appear on the channel, calling it disgraceful. Finance Committee Chairman Hanoch Milwiczki strongly criticized those considering a return, reminding them that the boycott was due to Channel 12's damaging reports against the soldiers and demanding the channel apologize before any normalization.

Despite the pressure from Netanyahu and his campaign team, the Likud ranks remain divided, with some members standing firm on their boycott and others silent or noncommittal. The controversy highlights ongoing tensions within the party regarding media relations and election strategy.
