Right-Wing Parties Seek Disappointed Likud Voters After Primaries, Netanyahu Faces Vote Split Risks

תורגם ותומצת מתוך Maariv על ידי baba
The story · English

Following the Likud primaries, right-wing parties are attempting to attract disappointed voters from the right flank. A survey conducted by Lazar Research for Maariv shows that 80% of Likud voters are satisfied with the primary results, while 9% are dissatisfied and 11% have no opinion. Among all coalition party voters, 66% expressed satisfaction with the outcomes.

Despite pressure, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet guaranteed a reserved spot for Yosef Haddad, whose joining could strengthen the new party "Israel Amitsa" and help it approach the electoral threshold. Likud officials worry that if Haddad joins, Offir Winter and his supporters might be more determined to remain in the race, increasing the risk of vote splitting within the right-wing bloc.

Negotiations between Winter and Haddad focus on a full merger rather than a technical bloc. Haddad is slated for the second spot on the list and aims to include three additional members in the top ten. Winter is working to finalize his list, aiming to present new faces and avoid politicians with prior parliamentary experience. Although Netanyahu has not yet offered Haddad a reserved position, Likud insiders continue to urge him to act to prevent multiple right-wing lists from leaving votes below the threshold.
