Eitan Gonen Opens Up About Feeling He Failed to Save Daughter Romi

Eitan Gonen, father of Romi Gonen, appeared on his daughter's podcast where he emotionally shared his deep feelings of failure for not being able to save her. Speaking through tears, Eitan expressed the painful burden he carries despite his gratitude that Romi survived. He said, "The feeling of failure will not leave me, Romi," acknowledging that he failed her on that critical day. He lamented not being able to reach her in time, noting the long three-hour drive to the Re'im forest and hearing stories of other fathers who managed to rescue their children, which made him question why he could not do the same.

Romi comforted her father by telling him, "You wouldn’t have succeeded in life," implying that his survival was a miracle. Eitan reflected on his desire to atone for what he called his "huge failure," emphasizing that Romi’s return home alive is the greatest success and gratitude he could have.
