Likud's May Golan Responds to Primary Results After Being Pushed to 40th Place

Minister May Golan addressed the results of the Likud party primaries on Tuesday, after receiving 19,214 votes but being placed 40th on the party list, a position considered unrealistic for election based on current polls. Golan thanked her supporters on social media, emphasizing their voluntary and genuine backing without coercion or pre-filled ballots.

She accused a campaign against her in the days leading up to the vote, alleging the spread of false information and "hit lists" orchestrated by what she called "briefers for the Prime Minister." Golan promised to provide further details about these actions in the future.

Regarding her final ranking, Golan explained that the large number of reserved spots on the list, controlled by the Prime Minister, limited the number of realistic national slots to 17, pushing her down despite her vote count which would have placed her at 23rd. Despite this setback, she affirmed her intention to continue her political work, expressing gratitude for the strong support she received and her commitment to representing her constituents with integrity.

The primaries are part of the preparations for the 2026 elections, with internal party dynamics and reserved seats significantly impacting candidate placements.
