US Navy Denies Reports of Deaths on USS Abraham Lincoln Amid Middle East Deployment

The story · English

The US Navy command has issued a firm denial regarding recent reports claiming that seven sailors died during a violent incident aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The Navy stated that these reports are completely false, confirming that no crew members have died, and the only sailor who fell overboard on August 3 was quickly and safely rescued.

Contrary to claims of a severe mental health crisis and increased suicide attempts among the crew, the Navy highlighted that the USS Abraham Lincoln boasts one of the highest reenlistment rates among all US aircraft carriers, at 84.4%. This figure indicates a high level of crew satisfaction, contradicting the negative portrayal in the false reports.

The Navy emphasized the resilience and determination of the Abraham Lincoln strike group after more than 260 days at sea, conducting 10,000 operational flights and deploying 1.5 million pounds of munitions. The command criticized the misleading media coverage as unjust to service members and their families.

While recent military media reports acknowledged challenging conditions aboard the ship after an extended deployment, the Navy categorically rejected any claims of deaths or suicides. The USS Abraham Lincoln is currently deployed in the Middle East as part of the US effort to deter Iran and protect regional allies. Its prolonged mission, extended due to heightened tensions, is among the longest modern deployments for a US aircraft carrier.
