Enlight Advances Talks to Acquire Major European Energy Developer for Hundreds of Millions of Euros

The story · English

Israeli energy company Enlight, led by CEO Adi Levitian and chaired by Gilad Yaavetz, is in advanced negotiations to acquire a European energy development firm primarily active in Germany. The deal, valued at several hundred million euros, would significantly expand Enlight's footprint in Central Europe. The target company holds substantial projects focused mainly in Germany. This acquisition follows Enlight's January purchase of a controlling stake (51%-60%) in the large Jupiter project, in partnership with Prime Capital AG, a local investment fund.

Enlight operates across multiple European countries including Spain, Sweden, Germany, Croatia, Serbia, Ireland, Poland, Hungary, Finland, and Romania. In 2022, it acquired 90% of the American company Clenera for $390 million, establishing its U.S. presence by focusing on early-stage projects rather than operational assets. Enlight is publicly traded with a market value of approximately 36 billion shekels, down about 15% since May.

In the first half of 2026, Enlight reported revenues of $409 million, a 55% increase year-over-year, with net profit at $69 million, down from $107 million the previous year due to the exclusion of solar projects previously included. Adjusted net profit rose 160% compared to the same period in 2025. The company’s EBITDA reached $314 million, up from $227 million. As of the end of Q2, Enlight’s production capacity totaled 21.8 gigawatts with 74.6 gigawatt-hours of storage capacity.

Europe accounts for 34% of Enlight’s operational capacity, the U.S. 41%, and Israel 25%. In energy storage, Europe represents 13%, less than the U.S. and Israel, but this share is expected to grow with the new acquisition. Enlight currently has 4.5 gigawatts of projects under construction and 3.9 gigawatts in pre-construction stages across the U.S. and Europe. In June, Enlight secured $2.6 billion in financing for the CO BAR complex in Arizona, its largest funding round to date.

Enlight anticipates renewable energy will constitute 50%-75% of electricity production in its markets, driving significant demand for energy storage to balance generation and grid transmission capabilities. The company declined to comment on rumors, stating it will comply with disclosure regulations if a reportable event occurs.
