Former Spokesperson Denies Claims He Was Asked to Lie by Israeli MK Sharren Haskel

The story · English

Tomer Cohen, the former spokesperson for Israeli Member of Knesset Sharren Haskel, has strongly denied reports that he resigned after being asked to lie to journalists. Cohen announced his departure from the role within the last day, but journalist Michael Shemesh from Channel 13 claimed that Cohen resigned amid allegations that Haskel instructed him to deceive the media. Cohen refuted these claims, stating that he had planned his resignation well in advance and that Haskel never asked him to lie. He also accused Shemesh of fabricating the story and falsely claiming he refused to respond to interview requests, saying Shemesh never contacted him.

Cohen expressed pride in his professional achievements during his tenure, highlighting his involvement in efforts to block a controversial conscription law. He thanked colleagues and journalists he worked with, except for Shemesh, whom he criticized sharply. Cohen emphasized that despite the false report, he leaves his position with a strong sense of accomplishment both professionally and personally.
