Israeli VIP Lux Travel Faces 31 Million Shekel Debt, Seeks Court Protection and Buyer

The story · English

VIP Lux Travel, a veteran Israeli transportation company founded in 2004, has accumulated debts totaling approximately 31 million shekels and has petitioned the district court for a temporary stay of proceedings and appointment of a debt arrangement manager. The company, which employs around 100 people and provides transportation services to institutions, factories, schools, tourism, and VIP clients, aims to negotiate a debt settlement to avoid liquidation.

The company stated that until recently it operated profitably with plans to double its earnings. However, external factors beyond its control, including the recent conflicts "Sword of Iron," "Laviab," and "Roaring Lion," caused significant cash flow problems due to delayed payments from customers amounting to about 9.6 million shekels. In July, VIP Lux Travel was also the victim of serious criminal acts, losing three vehicles from its fleet, one was set on fire and found in a Bedouin area, while two others were located in Palestinian Authority territories near Ramallah and subsequently lost.

The company and its shareholder Felix Yan believe that with temporary legal protection, they can formulate a debt arrangement that will provide creditors with a better return than liquidation, preserve employee jobs, and maintain supplier relationships. VIP Lux Travel is actively seeking a buyer to present an acquisition proposal to the court.

Lawyers Lirum Senda and Elad Chen emphasized that the company’s financial difficulties stem from the complex security situation and its broad economic impact, challenges faced by many Israeli businesses. They highlighted the company’s commitment to transparency and cooperation with the court to reach a fair debt resolution while continuing business operations.
