Reserve Brigadier General Ofer Winter Strongly Condemns Yair Golan's Bid for Israeli Defense Minister

Reserve Brigadier General Ofer Winter sharply criticized Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, following Golan's expressed ambition to become Israel's next defense minister. In a video statement, Winter recalled Golan's past remarks, including his controversial claim that a normal country does not kill babies as a hobby, which Golan said about Israel. Winter said, "When I hear Yair Golan, who 'identifies processes,' suggesting he could be defense minister, I shudder."

Winter further accused Golan's party of posing a serious threat to Israel's security, stating that Golan leads "the most dangerous party in Israel." He condemned the Democratic Party's reaction to the recent brutal murder of Jews on Shabbat and warned that Golan as defense minister would be a disaster for Israel's security system, settlements, and Jewish people.

Concluding his remarks, Winter recalled a past confrontation where Golan accused him of lacking values because Winter prayed before going into battle in Gaza. Winter expressed deep concern about the consequences if Golan were to become defense minister, saying, "I do not want to imagine what will happen if, God forbid, he becomes our defense minister, it will be a catastrophe."
