Ribalta proposed halving the transfer fee if Kangwa played, but Katz refused to budge.

The situation escalated dramatically when Beitar Jerusalem's team bus was en route to a match, with Kangwa ready to play. Ribalta then called the club president, agreeing to pay the original price without conditions, even if Kangwa played. Katz responded firmly, stating he would not sell Kangwa even for 10 million euros. Following this breakdown, Olympiacos seized the opportunity to sign Kangwa without any conditions. Greek media noted that Ribalta now regrets losing the player as he watches the target slip away.
