Children’s Star Meni Mamtera Reveals Hearing Loss and Starts Wearing Hearing Aids
Children’s entertainer Meni Mamtera said on Thursday night that he has begun wearing hearing aids after suffering cumulative hearing damage over years of performing. He shared the news in a personal Instagram video, documenting the moment he put the devices on and telling followers, “After years of hesitation, I put these hearing aids on. One, two, three. Now I am okay.”
Mamtera explained that the hearing problem came from his work on stage, using clips from loud performances to show the strain on his hearing. He said his decision to speak publicly was meant to raise awareness and remove stigma: “It was important for me to say it like this, to normalize it. It is important.”
Addressing children who watch him, he urged anyone who is hard of hearing not to be embarrassed about using hearing aids. “Put them on, accept yourselves as you are, whether you are children or adults,” he said. He added that the change has already made a major difference for him, saying, “It changed my life, honestly. From now on I hear everything.”
He ended with a light joke from the clinic, saying he now hears so well that he can even hear people gossiping in another room. The audiologist who was with him said it is very important to wear hearing aids when needed, and Mamtera agreed.
