Israeli Settler Tal Yinon Dradik Requests to Attend Friend Benyahu Malt's Funeral

מאת יוסי בן עטר

The story · English

Tal Yinon Dradik, an Israeli settler detained under a restrictive administrative order issued by Central Command Chief Aviv Blot, has urgently requested permission to attend the funeral of his close friend Benyahu Malt. Dradik submitted the request on Friday from the Russian Compound detention center through lawyers from the Honenu organization. In a handwritten letter to General Blot, Dradik emphasized the urgent need to participate in the funeral of his dear friend and Israeli hero, Benyahu Malt, who was killed in a terror attack in the West Bank.

Benyahu Malt, 32, a resident of the Havat Gilad settlement and a member of its security team responsible for agriculture, was murdered while assisting a group of hikers who were attacked in the Samaria region. Dradik, a resident of a settlement in Binyamin and father of four, was detained about two and a half weeks ago for allegedly violating the administrative order, which includes full house arrest at his mother-in-law's home. Honenu claims the order is unenforceable and that Dradik's mother-in-law was not informed in advance.

Honenu lawyers also report that Dradik is conducting a prolonged protest against his detention and that his medical condition is concerning. They have requested that he be allowed to receive medical treatment. Dradik is currently awaiting a decision from General Blot on his request to attend Malt's funeral, with no response provided yet.
