Malaysian PM Insists on Expelling Israelis Despite US Pressure

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed his government's policy to immediately expel any Israeli citizen found in Malaysia, rejecting American pressure to change this stance. In a local media interview, Ibrahim stated, "We will continue this policy and will not allow Israelis to set foot in Malaysia." This firm position follows social media reports about a collaborative tech project called "Network School" in Forest City, Johor, involving participants with dual Israeli citizenship who allegedly entered Malaysia using non-Israeli passports.

Following Ibrahim's declaration, a group of Republican lawmakers in the United States called for a reassessment of Malaysia's economic and security ties with the US. However, Ibrahim emphasized Malaysia's sovereignty and freedom of expression, asserting that despite threats, he will vigorously defend Malaysian rights and the people's decision to maintain the ban on Israeli citizens.

Ibrahim also addressed his meeting with Hamas leaders, which he disclosed during discussions with then-US President Donald Trump. He explained that he met Hamas officials to offer condolences to families affected by bombings and civilian casualties, describing this as a normal diplomatic gesture. He stressed that while Malaysia maintains good relations with the US, it cannot ignore or fail to condemn the killing of innocent civilians in Gaza.
