The story · English

Two years after receiving the devastating news of her grandfather Alex Danzig's murder in captivity, musician Talia Danzig marks a significant professional milestone with the release of her debut album, "Come Back Home." She appeared on the "Midday" program on Kan News Radio 2 on Wednesday to discuss the album, which was released this week. Danzig shared that the album contains memories and longing for her grandfather but also portrays her family's journey, from being a family of hostages to becoming a bereaved family.

The timing of the interview was poignant, as it coincided exactly with the two-year anniversary of the announcement of her grandfather's death, a moment that thrust her unwillingly into the public eye. The album features songs inspired by the October 7 massacre, including "Peanuts" and "I Have Strength," which she performed during protests demanding the return of her grandfather and other hostages. The title track, "Come Back Home," was originally written before the war, inspired by her mother's hospitalization, but gained new meaning after October 7.

Musically, the album juxtaposes emotionally charged lyrics with upbeat grooves. Danzig explained that while her lyrics often express deep pain and frustration, the music itself can be danceable and lively. She also included a unique song called "Song in the Language of the Sun," performed in a made-up language, symbolizing an innocent plea for peace and an end to war.

Having been closely associated with the struggle to bring back the hostages, Danzig now chooses to distance herself from the heated political arena. She expressed concern over the growing hatred and division fueled by politicians and said she is dedicating her life to music in hopes of softening hearts, offering hope, and restoring humanity.

The album launch concert is scheduled for September 2 at the HaEzor club in Tel Aviv.
