The story · English

As the 25th Knesset session concluded, Minister Orit Struck published a farewell article reflecting on her years in office. She expressed gratitude to the Religious Zionism party, activists, prayer groups, and the people of Israel. Despite the challenges and pains experienced, Struck emphasized that "we are in a period of miracles."

Struck recalled being the last minister present during the final moments of the Knesset session, which ended after a long and exhausting week filled with tension and upheaval before upcoming elections. She highlighted the passage of the "Memorial Law for the Terror Attack and Heroism Commemoration on Simchat Torah, October 7th," noting the rare unity it fostered across political divides, demonstrating the Knesset's ability to come together in times of national trial.

Reflecting on the entire term, Struck described the journey as marked by difficult crossroads, intense pressures, and nearly impossible decisions, alongside remarkable successes. She credited her party, Religious Zionism, and its leader Bezalel Smotrich for fostering a unique spirit of cooperation, openness, and shared values. She expressed deep appreciation for serving a devoted public known for pioneering efforts in war, settlement, volunteering, and mutual aid.

Struck also thanked the many individuals from across Israel who supported her, including activists who provided essential backing and reality checks to elected officials. She called on these supporters to continue their efforts. She expressed heartfelt thanks to those who prayed for the government, emphasizing the vital role of prayer and divine assistance throughout challenging times.

Addressing questions about her characterization of the period as a "miracle," Struck cited poet Yehuda Amichai to explain that even amid hardship and exhaustion, one must recognize the magnitude of the miracles experienced by the nation. She warned against propaganda and falsehoods that obscure this reality and stressed the responsibility to see and acknowledge the miracles as motivation to move forward. Struck concluded by thanking God for the opportunity to serve during this extraordinary time and invited the people of Israel to decide the future path.
