Israeli Teen Suffers Severe Allergic Reaction to Milk in Ice Cream, Hospitalized in Critical Condition

A 13-year-old boy from Safed was rushed to Ziv Medical Center after experiencing a severe allergic reaction to milk residues in an ice cream bar he consumed unknowingly. His condition deteriorated en route to the hospital, developing life-threatening symptoms including shortness of breath and a full-body rash. Upon arrival, he was immediately admitted to the pediatric emergency department where prompt medical intervention stabilized him. Following treatment, he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for observation, and his condition is now reported as mild and stable.

Dr. Diana Faour Qassem, head of the pediatric emergency department at Ziv Medical Center, emphasized the critical importance of rapid hospital arrival in cases of food allergen exposure to save lives. She credited the swift diagnosis and intervention by doctors Reem Ali and Alaa Ganaim, alongside the pediatric emergency nursing staff, for saving the boy's life.
