13-Year-Old Boy in Serious Condition After Allergic Reaction to Milk in Safed

A 13-year-old boy from Safed was hospitalized in serious condition at Ziv Medical Center after unknowingly consuming an ice cream containing milk residues. On his way to the hospital, his condition deteriorated to a life-threatening state, exhibiting symptoms of shortness of breath and a full-body rash. He was urgently admitted to the pediatric emergency department, where his condition stabilized and he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for monitoring. His current status is mild and stable.

Dr. Diana Faour Qassem, head of the pediatric emergency department at Ziv, emphasized the critical importance of rapid hospital arrival in cases of allergen exposure to save lives. She credited the swift identification and intervention by doctors Reem Ali and Alaa Ganaim, along with the pediatric emergency nursing staff, for saving the boy's life.
