13-Year-Old Milk-Allergic Boy Hospitalized After Eating Ice Cream Containing Milk Residue

A 13-year-old boy from Safed with a milk allergy was hospitalized in critical condition after unknowingly consuming an ice cream bar containing milk residues. Following ingestion, he developed a full-body rash and shortness of breath. His parents rushed him to Ziv Medical Center in Safed, where his condition deteriorated en route, reaching a life-threatening state.

Upon arrival, the pediatric emergency team admitted him urgently and managed to stabilize his condition, which is now classified as mild. Dr. Diana Faour Qassem, head of the pediatric emergency department at Ziv, emphasized the critical importance of rapid hospital arrival and intervention in cases of allergic reactions to food. She credited the swift diagnosis and treatment by doctors Reem Ali and Alaa Ganaim, alongside the pediatric emergency nursing staff, with saving the boy's life.

The hospital highlighted that quick recognition and response in the emergency room were vital to preventing a fatal outcome. The boy's current stable condition reflects the success of the medical team's prompt actions.
