13-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized in Serious Condition After Severe Milk Allergy Reaction in Israel

A 13-year-old boy from Safed was urgently hospitalized on Thursday night at Ziv Medical Center after suffering a severe allergic reaction to milk. The boy unknowingly consumed a popsicle containing milk residues, which triggered a life-threatening reaction characterized by shortness of breath and a full-body rash.

During transport to the hospital, his condition deteriorated significantly, prompting immediate admission to the pediatric emergency department. After stabilization, he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for close monitoring. His current condition is reported as mild and stable.

Dr. Diana Faour Qassem, head of the pediatric emergency department at Ziv, emphasized the critical importance of rapid arrival at emergency care for allergic reactions to food. She credited the swift diagnosis and intervention by doctors Reem Ali and Alaa Ganaim, along with the pediatric emergency nursing staff, for saving the boy's life.
