Government Committee Rejects Appointments of Economist's Wife and Security Movement Member

The Dotan Committee, responsible for vetting appointments in government companies, rejected the nominations of Dr. Ruth Kabsa Avramzon and Shosh Raban to the Civil Service Commission's Service Committee on Wednesday. Kabsa Avramzon, wife of Dr. Shmuel Avramzon, the chief economist at the Ministry of Finance, was disqualified partly due to her husband's role and her political ties to the Religious Zionism parties. She holds a doctorate in management and is an entrepreneur focused on strengthening the Galilee, Zionism, and Jewish identity.

Shosh Raban, a retired lieutenant colonel and former senior official in the Shin Bet who was the first female battalion commander in the IDF, was disqualified because of statements deemed by the committee to potentially harm public trust. Raban currently serves on the leadership board of the "Security Movement" and participates in media panels, including on Channel 14.

The Service Committee operates under the Civil Service Commission and is statutorily authorized to oversee issues related to civil servants' status, service conditions, organizational structure, and recruitment, promotion, and retirement procedures. Its members are recommended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The committee acts as a balancing and supervisory body to ensure proper management, transparency, and protection of employee rights under the Civil Service Regulations.

With the Knesset dissolving the following day and elections approaching, no permanent appointments to the committee can be made until a new government is formed. Kabsa Avramzon declined to comment, Raban did not respond to inquiries, and Judge Dotan also refused to comment.
