Ra'am Lawmaker Denies Plans to Join Right-Wing Coalition After Elections

Ra'am party member of Knesset Iman Khatib Yasin has firmly rejected interpretations suggesting the party might join a right-wing coalition following the upcoming elections. Speaking to the news site Al-Jarmaq, Khatib Yasin clarified that statements attributed to Ra'am leader Mansour Abbas about potential overtures from both left and right-wing factions were inaccurate. She emphasized that Ra'am has no intention of aligning with the right-wing government led by Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and Smotrich, which she described as responsible for the hardships faced by the Arab community in recent years.

Khatib Yasin further stated that there is effectively no political left in Israel anymore, especially after the events of October 7, and that all parties now lean right. She explained that Ra'am's choice has always been between the lesser of two evils, with the party's primary goal being to protect Arab citizens' lives and dignity by influencing decision-makers and achieving tangible results by any means necessary. Regarding Ra'am's red lines, she said the party is guided by its national and religious principles, which serve as non-negotiable boundaries in all matters.
