Conor McGregor Suffers Knee Injury in UFC Comeback Fight, Calls It 'Hell'

Conor McGregor returned to the UFC after a long hiatus but his comeback fight ended abruptly within just 69 seconds due to a severe knee injury. The Irish fighter landed awkwardly after attempting a kick, fell multiple times, and the referee stopped the bout. Prior to the fight, footage circulated online showing McGregor seemingly unable to put weight on his left leg while removing his shoes, raising concerns about a pre-existing injury.

Despite the videos, McGregor denied entering the fight injured, stating on social media, "I was not hurt going into this fight. I kicked, I jumped, and everything was fine with my legs throughout the camp and before the fight in the locker room. This came out of nowhere. I’m in a very dark place right now, I’m in hell." UFC President Dana White commented that doctors suspect a torn ACL based on the initial examination. White expressed disappointment, saying he had hoped to see at least one full round from McGregor after five years away from the octagon.

Additional footage showed McGregor leaving the arena in shock, hopping on one leg, presumably heading to a nearby hospital in Las Vegas. The injury casts significant doubt on McGregor’s near-term fighting future and marks a painful setback in his highly anticipated return to mixed martial arts competition.
