Alexander Zverev Reaches First Wimbledon Final After Defeating Arthur Fery

Alexander Zverev continued his impressive run by reaching the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career on Friday. The third-ranked German and recent French Open champion defeated British tournament surprise Arthur Fery 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals. Zverev faced resistance only in the first set, which he won decisively in a one-sided tiebreak, then dominated the next two sets by breaking Fery's serve multiple times.

Fery, 23, entered Wimbledon with a wildcard and became one of the tournament's Cinderella stories by reaching the semifinals, a feat achieved by only one other wildcard since 2001. Despite his breakthrough, he could not counter Zverev's consistent play. Zverev's victory extends his strong momentum following his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month and marks his second consecutive major final appearance.

By reaching the Wimbledon final, Zverev also secured the world No. 2 ranking after the tournament. He will await the winner of the semifinal clash between Yannick Sinner and Novak Djokovic for a chance to claim his second straight Grand Slam title and continue one of the best stretches of his career.
