Moria Asraf Calls Gaza Disengagement a Break, Urges Settlements After October 7 Attack

In an interview with Omri Asenheim on Channel 13, journalist and presenter Moria Asraf reflected on the profound impact of Israel's disengagement from the Gaza settlement bloc of Gush Katif. She described the disengagement as a pivotal event that left her and many settlers feeling abandoned by the state and betrayed in terms of the values they upheld.

Asraf, who has been interested in politics and news since childhood, emphasized that the settler movement remains a crucial element of Israel's security strategy, not merely an ideological issue. She argued that following the October 7 attack, Israel had a strategic opportunity to establish one or two settlements in Gaza areas under Israeli control, a move she believes was missed.

Criticizing the government's handling of Gaza, Asraf highlighted the lack of clear decision-making regarding the region's future as the main problem. She suggested that decisive policies, including settlement expansion, should have been pursued to strengthen Israel's position in Gaza after the recent conflict.
