Likud Reverses Decision to Double Primary Fees After Legal Conflict
David Sharan, acting CEO of the Likud party, announced to prospective primary candidates that incumbent ministers and Knesset members would be required to pay a participation fee of 20,000 shekels, doubling the previous amount. However, after the announcement circulated, it was discovered that this fee increase violated the Party Law, which limits candidate fees to a maximum of 10,000 shekels per internal election cycle. Following this realization, the Likud party issued a corrected statement retracting the doubled fee requirement.
