The story · English

Darrow, an Israeli LegalTech startup specializing in AI-driven detection of legal violations, has laid off 60 employees, including 40 in Israel. Prior to the layoffs, the company employed 180 people. Founded in 2020 by CEO Evitar Ben-Artzi, CTO Gila Hayat, and former legal advisor Elad Spiegelman, Darrow develops a platform that continuously scans and analyzes vast amounts of unstructured public data to identify legal breaches. The company is headquartered in Tel Aviv with additional offices in New York.

Darrow has raised approximately $63 million in funding, with its latest Series B round in September 2023 bringing in $35 million. Investors include leading venture capital firms such as Y Combinator, Entrée Capital, NFX, and Aleph. The company stated it has been profitable for three consecutive years and is undergoing a strategic reorganization to create a smarter, more creative, and multidisciplinary structure to sustain growth momentum.

As part of this reorganization, Darrow will reduce about 60 positions, including roughly 20 in its U.S. branch. Many of the roles affected are highly skilled lawyers who served as analysts and helped build the legal expertise underpinning the AI technology. The company expressed gratitude for their contributions and emphasized its commitment to supporting affected employees during this transition.
