London Train Station Renamed After Jude Bellingham Following World Cup Heroics

England advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup on July 6 after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Mexico, with Jude Bellingham starring by scoring twice. His outstanding performance captivated the nation and prompted a unique tribute from London's rail company, Thameslink. Before the round of 16 match even began, Thameslink temporarily renamed the Bellingham train station in Lewisham, South London, to "Jude Bellingham" for 24 hours to honor the Real Madrid midfielder.

Due to Bellingham's phenomenal display and overwhelming fan support on social media, Thameslink announced the signage would remain until at least the upcoming Sunday, covering England's quarterfinal match against Norway. A company spokesperson said, "Considering the result and Jude's giant performance, we decided to extend the signage period."

Although Bellingham himself did not grow up in South London but in the Midlands, the Lewisham area has become a nurturing ground for England's current squad talents, including Declan Rice, Marc Guehi, Ainsley Ezri, and Trevoh Chalobah, all raised in the southern neighborhoods of the capital.
