He explained that his outspoken criticism stems from love for his country, stating, "A true patriot is someone who dares to criticize their country." Springsteen emphasized that patriotism involves recognizing a nation's flaws and encouraging it to improve.

Springsteen has been a prominent political voice in American music for years, openly opposing Donald Trump since his first presidential election in 2016. He supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the most recent elections and previously labeled Trump as "the most dangerous presidential candidate of my lifetime." Their public feud intensified during Trump's second term, with Springsteen calling the administration "corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous" during his May concert in Manchester. He also urged audiences to resist authoritarianism and defend freedom.

Trump responded on his social media platform Truth Social by insulting Springsteen as a "withered rocker" and a "total loser," attacking his political views and encouraging supporters to boycott his concerts. Springsteen dismissed the attacks, saying, "My role is simple, I do what I want and say what I want. Then people can say what they want about me. That's the way the game is for me, and that's perfectly fine."
