Labor Court Rejects Journalist Yaakov Bardugo's Lawsuit Against Army Radio

The Tel Aviv Regional Labor Court has completely dismissed journalist Yaakov Bardugo's lawsuit against the Israeli military radio station Galei Tzahal. Bardugo had claimed that cuts and changes to his role at the station were politically motivated and that an employer-employee relationship existed throughout his tenure. However, the court ruled decisively that Bardugo was not fired but voluntarily ended his contract after disagreeing with professional changes to the broadcast schedule.

Furthermore, the judges found no evidence supporting Bardugo's allegations of political dismissal or improper external interference in the station's management decisions. As a result, the court rejected his claims in full and ordered Bardugo to pay the station 50,000 shekels to cover legal fees and court costs.

This ruling clarifies that the changes at Galei Tzahal were managerial and professional rather than politically driven, and Bardugo's departure was by choice rather than termination. The case underscores the legal boundaries of employment disputes within public broadcasting in Israel.
