Actor Danny Glover Reveals Alzheimer's Diagnosis on NBC's Today Show

Danny Glover, the 79-year-old American actor known for his roles in "Lethal Weapon" and "The Color Purple," publicly disclosed his Alzheimer's diagnosis during an appearance on NBC's Today Show. The revelation came shortly after he received an honorary Oscar in 2022. Glover expressed a measured acceptance of his condition, stating, "I can live with it, in a way. I'm sure as time goes on things will be different."

His 50-year-old daughter, Mandisa Glover, emphasized the importance of her father speaking openly about his diagnosis, noting that "the time is now" for him to share his experience in his own voice. She explained that people often ask questions, and she prefers honesty over reassuring platitudes.

Glover described his 2023 experience with the diagnosis as a recognition that it was happening to him, while also acknowledging the millions of others affected by the disease. Mandisa recounted the first signs of memory loss, which involved her father forgetting key parts of his past. Known for his detailed recollections since the 1970s, including specific conversations and details, Glover had repeatedly shared stories about his parents. However, some parts of these stories began to be missing, prompting concern about his condition.
