Netanyahu Adviser Alleges Political Motive Behind Corruption Cases and Claims Surveillance Abuse

David Sharan, an adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accused investigators of targeting Netanyahu and his family with fabricated corruption charges to politically damage them ahead of elections. In a radio interview on Galei Yisrael, Sharan claimed that officials told him, "Bring anything on Netanyahu or Steinitz, and we'll manage with you," indicating pressure to produce incriminating evidence. He also revealed that surveillance devices were planted on him, initially denied by authorities but later confirmed by journalist Amit Hadad, who exposed that the surveillance was used to gather information on Case 1000, one of the corruption investigations against Netanyahu.

Sharan emphasized that the case cannot end with just Netanyahu's acquittal but must also include accountability for those responsible for what he described as a "madness" of legal persecution. He cited former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, who reportedly said he would not have filed charges without suspicion of bribery. Sharan questioned the implications for ordinary citizens if such high-ranking officials are subjected to what he called fabricated cases.
