The story · English

The Democrats party election committee has disqualified former Meretz MK Mosi Raz and social activist Avi Dabush from running in the Meretz slot in the party's upcoming primaries. This decision was made under the representation rules established after the merger of the Labor and Meretz parties into the Democrats. Raz, who has long been associated with the left-wing camp, previously served as a regular panelist on the right-leaning show "The Patriots," a move considered unusual. He resigned from the panel about a month later following remarks by host Yinon Magal.

In response to his disqualification, Raz sharply criticized the committee, accusing it of attempting to erase his 30 years of activism within Meretz and insulting tens of thousands of party members. He expressed hope that the party leadership would reverse what he called "this delusion" promptly. Raz served multiple terms as a Meretz MK and continued his political activity within the Democrats after the party's formation. Avi Dabush also sought to run in the Meretz slot but was similarly disqualified.

The decision highlights internal tensions within the newly unified Democrats party as it prepares for its primary elections, reflecting ongoing debates about representation and candidate eligibility following the merger of two left-wing parties.
