Jose Alvarado Signs New Three-Year Deal to Stay with the Knicks

Jose Alvarado, the 28-year-old point guard born and raised in New York, has agreed to remain with the Knicks after becoming a free agent. The NBA champion signed a new three-year contract worth about $14 million after declining his $4.5 million player option for next season.

Alvarado, who was traded to New York from New Orleans in February, had become a key figure in the team’s title run and one of the most popular players at Madison Square Garden. He said his own farewell to the possibility of leaving with a short post on social media, writing, “I’m home,” alongside orange and blue hearts.

The deal comes after Alvarado had already become a favorite in New York. In just his fourth game for the Knicks, he scored 26 points, hit 8 of 13 from three-point range, and added five steals. His standout moment came in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against San Antonio, when he scored eight points in the fourth quarter and helped spark a historic comeback from a 29-point deficit that gave the Knicks a 3-1 lead over the Spurs.
