Israeli Drone Strike Hits Militants in Gaza City’s Nasser Neighborhood
An Israeli military drone struck militants in the Italian Compound area of Gaza City’s Nasser neighborhood, according to the report, with Palestinian sources saying several militants were wounded. The neighborhood lies near the upscale Rimal district and has become a gathering point for Hamas terror operatives. Under the ceasefire arrangements, civilians were moved into the area, and unlike northern and southern Gaza, its buildings were not destroyed, though most are described as structurally weak.
The strike was one of three Israeli attacks in Gaza in the past 24 hours. Earlier on Wednesday, the Air Force hit a vehicle in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis and killed the militant inside. Overnight, additional militants were killed after approaching Israeli forces along the yellow line in northern Gaza.
According to the IDF, Southern Command forces identified several armed Hamas operatives in northern Gaza near troops deployed under the ceasefire agreement. “Immediately after the identification, the militants were attacked and eliminated from the air in order to remove the threat to our forces,” the army said.
The latest attacks come amid what the military says are continuing violations of the ceasefire terms by terror groups in the Strip. Over the weekend, the IDF destroyed four launch positions in several areas of Gaza after determining they had recently been set up in clear violation of the agreement. The army said those launchers were ready to fire at Israeli troops and Israeli civilians, and described them as an immediate threat requiring quick removal. The military also said it took steps to reduce harm to civilians, including precision-guided munitions, and warned that any attempt to harm forces or breach the deal will be met with an immediate and forceful response.
