Cornerstone Laid for New 'Vezot LiYehuda' Boys' School Building in Beit Shemesh

A formal cornerstone-laying ceremony was held for the new, spacious building now under construction for the 'Vezot LiYehuda' Talmud Torah in Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel, with city rabbis, local officials, school leadership, teachers, parents, and students in attendance. The event marked the start of a larger facility intended to better serve the school’s boys and give them a fitting place to ללמוד.

School director Rabbi Yitzchak Shtub praised the project and said the goal was to create a house for God and His Torah where students would be raised toward the spiritual aspiration of “doing the will of our King.” He also thanked Mayor Shmuel Greenberg for his strong support of the Talmud Torah and the construction effort, and noted the long-standing work of the institutions’ head, Rabbi Yosef Graama, who has been involved for 30 years in managing and advancing the Vezot LiYehuda network in Beit Shemesh and Kiryat Yearim, Telzstone.

Greenberg said he had followed the school and its management with emotion and wanted to see the project completed before the start of the 5788 school year. He said the city was investing significant resources and personally supervising the construction of a large, spacious building appropriate for the children.

When the moment came, Rabbi Graama invited the city rabbis, then the mayor and municipal council members, to pour the concrete into the cornerstone, accompanied by prayers that the building would be completed successfully and that Torah study would continue within its walls for many years. The ceremony concluded with moving remarks from Rabbi Benyamin Finkel, who stressed the importance of educating children in close cooperation with devoted teachers, followed by Psalms for the school’s success and joyful dancing by parents, students, and staff.
