הפרשן הפוליטי עמית סגל ניתח את הדרמה הפוליטית סביב דברי ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו על אינדיקציות למתקפה איראנית צפויה לפני הבחירות. לטענת סגל, נתניהו הצליח למצב את הנושא הביטחוני במרכז הדיון הציבורי, ובכך להסיט את תשומת הלב מנושאים אחרים, כמו גיוס החרדים.

סגל הסביר כי "בחירות הן קרב על סדר היום", וכי בעוד נתניהו מעוניין לדון בנושאי ביטחון, האופוזיציה מעוניינת לדון בנושא החרדים. לדעתו, האופוזיציה "בלעה את הפיתיון" והתמקדה באזהרות הביטחוניות, מה שמאפשר לנתניהו לשלוט בסדר היום הפוליטי.
