תאגיד השידור הבריטי (BBC) הודיע כי יבחן מחדש את רשימת העיתונאים שהוא מעסיק בעזה, זאת בעקבות פרסום בעיתון הטלגרף הבריטי לפיו 53 עיתונאים שנהרגו בתקיפות ברצועה זוהו כפעילי חמאס וארגוני טרור נוספים.

על פי הדיווח, אנשי התקשורת אותר כפעילי טרור לאחר שנמצאו ברשתות החברתיות תמונות שלהם במדי חמאס וארגונים אחרים, ובמקרים נוספים שמם הופיע ב"רשימות שהידים" שפרסמו הארגונים.

בין היתר, עבדאללה דרוויש, שהוצג ב-BBC בערבית כ"צלם עבור ערוץ אל-אקצא", תועד במדים של גדודי עז א-דין אל-קסאם משתתף באירועי 7 באוקטובר. יעקוב אל-ברש, שתואר ב-BBC בערבית כמנהל רדיו "נעמה", הופיע ברשימת "שהידים" של גדודי אל-קסאם.
