First Wedding Set Inside the Great Beit Midrash of Shevet Halevi

For the first time in the Shevet Halevi Hasidic court, a wedding will be held in the great synagogue hall, marking the marriage celebration of the rebbe’s granddaughter. The bride is the daughter of Rabbi Avraham Eliyahu Wosner, dayan of the Shevet Halevi Beit Midrash in Elyad, and the groom is the son of Rabbi Yissachar Dov Moskowitz, a grandson of the Shaatz Rebbe.

The celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 Tammuz, in the Great Shevet Halevi Beit Midrash in the Zikhron Meir neighborhood of Bnei Brak. According to the report, this is the first time a wedding will be held in the hall on Rabbi Dersler Street. In previous years, the site hosted only internal family and community events such as Simchat Beit Hashoeva, a Torah scroll dedication, bar mitzvahs, and similar gatherings.

The wedding was moved into the Beit Midrash hall partly to reduce wedding expenses, following the custom in other Hasidic courts. Ahead of the event, the rebbe summoned communal organizers and the synagogue trustees and laid out halachic instructions for the unprecedented ceremony.

He said that, in line with the ruling of his grandfather, the late chief halachic authority known as the Shevet Halevi, women must not enter the Beit Midrash at all. Even during the mitzvah dance, he ordered that the women and the bride remain only in the adjoining lobby and never enter the hall. He also instructed that a proper partition be erected between the Holy Ark and the honor table, and that musicians sing only sacred melodies composed by God-fearing cantors. The rebbe added that the souls of his holy ancestors, descending from above to join the celebration, will surely take pleasure in it, and the sanctity of the place will enhance the joy.
