יושב ראש סיעת שלומי אמונים, חבר הכנסת יצחק גולדקנופף, התייחס לראשונה בהרחבה לפיצול באגודת ישראל, שהוביל להקמת סיעה נפרדת בשם 'חומת תורת ישראל' יחד עם חסידות בעלזא. גולדקנופף הסביר כי הסיבה למהלך הדרמטי היא ניהול הכספים באגודה, אותו תיאר כ'מעשה שאסור לעשותו'. לדבריו, גם אם היה רוצה לשתוק, זעקתם של נציגי הסיעה בשטח חייבה אותו לפעול. הפיצול, שהתרחש לאחרונה, משקף מחלוקות עמוקות בתוך המפלגה החרדית, כאשר חסידות בעלזא, שהיא אחת החסידויות הגדולות והמשפיעות, בחרה ללכת בנפרד משאר הסיעות באגודת ישראל.
