Israeli Fashion Blogger Sparks Backlash With Pregnancy Shoot Featuring a Dead Fish
Israeli fashion blogger Yam Tzaidi, who has 146,000 Instagram followers, drew attention after posting an artistic pregnancy photoshoot as she nears the later stages of pregnancy and expects baby No. 2. The images, shot by fashion photographer Naama Aroas, show Tzaidi in minimal summer clothing, white bikini bottoms and a matching sailor hat, while her bare chest is covered by a large dead fish used as a provocative accessory. One photo also shows the concept on a boat deck.
In the caption accompanying the carousel post, the creators invoked symbolism around fish and pregnancy. The text said that for centuries fish have symbolized fertility, protection and good luck, adding that the sea reminds people where life begins. It continued that some things are visible while others are still growing out of sight, and ended by saying that new life begins long before the world meets it.
The image set quickly triggered angry responses from followers. One commenter wrote, in a sarcastic response, that it was moving to see an expectant mother photographed with dead animals attached to her body while supposedly promoting higher moral standards for the future child, calling it “amazing” and “art at its finest,” especially in 2026. Others reacted with comments such as “Creation of life and taking life, what a distortion,” “creepy as hell,” and “mental health, amen,” though some supportive replies also appeared.
