Neo-Nazis Chant 'Heil Hitler' and 'Free Palestine' in New York

The story · English

A group of neo-Nazis displaying swastika armbands appeared in Lower Manhattan on September 11, near the memorial for the victims of the 2001 terror attacks. The participants raised their arms in a Nazi salute, chanted "Heil Hitler" and "Free Palestine," and distributed antisemitic slogans. The incident occurred on the same day New York was holding events commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

According to American media reports, approximately seven neo-Nazis joined a group of counter-protesters near an event organized by far-right activist Jake Lang. They protested against what they termed "Jewish influence," distributed leaflets calling to end wars "for the sake of Jews," and insulted Lang himself, calling him a "Jew." During clashes between participants of various demonstrations, police arrested at least one person.

At the official ceremony at Ground Zero, Michael Massaroli, son of a 9/11 victim, urged attendees not to use the memory of the terror attacks to incite hatred. "You are not honoring my father's legacy and all these victims by using this tragedy to spread hate," he stated, concluding the reading of the names of the deceased. His speech was primarily directed against hatred towards Muslims and other groups, not specifically at the neo-Nazi demonstrators.

The article notes that New York State remained the U.S. leader in registered antisemitic incidents in 2025, with a significant portion occurring in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
