Dietitian Maya Rozman Unveils New Post-Holiday Eating Plan

The story · English

Following the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and preceding Sukkot, Dr. Maya Rozman, a dietitian, has introduced a new diet plan aimed at helping individuals shed excess weight gained during festive meals. She emphasizes the common struggle with weight gain after holidays and warns against unproven "miracle" weight loss products, some of which can be detrimental to health.

Dr. Rozman's approach, based on extensive research and clinical experience, advocates for diets higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates. This strategy, she explains, not only aids in weight loss and preserves muscle mass but also shows health benefits, including improved blood test markers.

The proposed diet minimizes intake of bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes, while increasing consumption of meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and legumes. To address the psychological and practical difficulties many face in cutting out carbohydrates, Dr. Rozman has developed a "fast diet" method.

This method restricts carbohydrate intake to the morning hours, when cravings are easier to manage. From noon onwards, the diet focuses solely on proteins and vegetables, excluding sugars and carbohydrates. A sample menu includes whole-grain bread with cheese and avocado for breakfast, fruit with almonds for a mid-morning snack, grilled chicken or fish with legumes and vegetables for lunch, protein yogurt or almonds for an afternoon snack, and eggs or tuna with salad for dinner, with no bread included in the evening meal. A night snack of yogurt or almonds is also suggested.
