עשרות תלמידים והורים נותרו הבוקר (שני) מחוץ לשער בית הספר הממלכתי דתי חמד אפיקים בבני ברק, לאחר שהשער הראשי הולחם במהלך הלילה. לפי החשד, גורמים חרדיים קיצוניים ביצעו את ההלחמה במחאה על הלימודים המשותפים לבנים ולבנות בבית הספר, בו לומדים גם ילדי חינוך מיוחד.

ההורים, שהגיעו עם ילדיהם בשעות הבוקר, נאלצו להמתין כשעה עד שהצליחו לפתוח את השער בעזרת דיסק חיתוך. כוחות משטרה שהגיעו למקום ניסו להשיב את הסדר ולאפשר את כניסת התלמידים.

האירוע מתרחש על רקע מחלוקת מתמשכת בנוגע לאופי המעורב של בית הספר, ובעקבות הסכמה קודמת שהתלמידים ייכנסו דרך כניסה צדדית.
