Stav Shaffir Warns Liberal Parties Against Inexperienced Candidates

Former Knesset Member Stav Shaffir has issued a stark warning to the liberal political camp regarding the inexperienced candidates joining its lists for the upcoming Knesset elections. Shaffir expressed concern that many new candidates, while well-intentioned, lack the necessary political acumen to effectively counter the anticipated aggressive opposition from the right-wing.

"From the new lists of the liberal camp, it seems there are people who think the battle for democracy ends when you win an election," Shaffir wrote on her X account. She acknowledged the presence of "good and impressive people" entering politics but emphasized that "most of them lack political experience. And this could be a tragic mistake."

Shaffir elaborated on her fears, anticipating a fierce parliamentary struggle against a potential future right-wing government. She questioned how inexperienced lawmakers would handle seasoned political adversaries like Itamar Ben-Gvir, Bezalel Smotrich, and Orit Struck, whom she described as individuals unburdened by legal or moral constraints who will "fight by any means they find."

She stressed the critical need for experienced leaders who understand the tactics of their political opponents and are prepared for any "trick." Shaffir warned that there would be no room for learning on the job, as the opposing side would wage a "terrible battle." Failure to prepare seriously, she cautioned, could lead to a rapid return to the political climate of November 2022.
