Russia Launches Major Attacks Across Ukraine, Causing Fires and Casualties
Russian forces launched significant attacks across Ukraine overnight and on September 5th, targeting infrastructure near Kyiv and residential areas in Zaporizhzhia. In the Fastiv district of Kyiv Oblast, an infrastructure facility was hit, causing extensive smoke and high temperatures that required additional emergency response. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings, and the fire was fully extinguished by morning with no reported fatalities or injuries.
Meanwhile, Zaporizhzhia experienced a prolonged drone attack on the evening of September 5th, lasting over two hours. These strikes followed earlier attacks on September 5th in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast, where shelling resulted in two deaths. In that incident, 28 sites were damaged across five districts, including private homes, an agricultural enterprise, and railway infrastructure. Regional administration head Timur Tkachneko urged residents to adhere strictly to safety regulations and heed air raid sirens.
Other recent incidents mentioned include two deaths and 19 injuries from a guided aerial bomb and artillery shelling in Kherson, and Russian forces striking a branch of the Israeli company Teva in Ukraine twice.
