Drone Strike Hits Ukraine Security Service HQ in Kyiv, Zelensky Vows Retaliation

A Russian drone struck the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kyiv's central Shevchenkivskyi district, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky stated the drone targeted the office of the acting head of the SBU, Oleksandr Poklad, though Poklad was not present at the time of the attack. The president has tasked Poklad with preparing a "adequate, tangible, and, if possible, mirror" response to the strike. Videos circulating on social media appear to show the moment of the drone impact on the five-story building, with smoke seen rising from two windows.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that nine people were injured in the Shevchenkivskyi district attack, with seven requiring hospitalization. Emergency services were also active in the Solomianskyi and Holosiivskyi districts. This attack occurs amid a period of daily Russian assaults on Kyiv, which have persisted for over a week.
