Comedian Shahar Hason Apologizes After Sketch Offends Druze Community

Israeli comedian Shahar Hason has sparked controversy and issued an apology after a sketch comparing the Druze flag to the LGBTQ+ pride flag was widely shared online. The comedian's humorous take, which included a fictional scenario of a Druze sheikh trying to convince gay community members to change their flag's colors, drew sharp criticism from members of the Druze community.

Lawyer Samer Ali, chairman of the Druze Lawyers Forum, publicly condemned Hason's sketch, calling it "disgusting" and not funny. Ali accused Hason of mocking Druze religion and tradition for the sake of ratings and warned of potential legal action, stating that many individuals had contacted him seeking action. "What you did is defamation and mockery," Ali asserted.

In response to the backlash, Hason addressed the criticism directly, apologizing to Ali. "My brother, I apologize from the bottom of my heart, there was no intention to offend," Hason wrote. He also announced that the sketch would be removed from all platforms the following day, adding, "Of course, the sketch will be removed from all platforms tomorrow, I love and appreciate."
